Highrise Gallery

In this class, we had to go on a site named 'Highrise' and it was about many people all over the world. There were people in Africa, Turkey, Czech Republic, and many other countries. Beyond them, I chose a woman from Prague, Czech Republic and the woman that I chose is Sylvia. And now, I am going to compare and contrast the life of Sylvia with mine.

To start, Sylvia is a visual artist which handles graphic, illustration, photographic, and computer graphic. She was having her life as a visual artist before she became a mother of two girls. She happened to have twins which caused a big change in her life. Because of the twins, Sylvia now spend lots of time in home and she thinks that her whole life is happening in her house. Moreover, she thinks that it is really interesting to watch diverse people and because of it, Sylvia likes to photograph diverse people and try to understand the meaning of life by photography.

If she looks out of her window, she sees 2 major things. The first thing that she seees is the 'The Great Wall of China'. It really doesn't mean the Great Wall of China but it is a larged uniformed building which is nicknamed 'The Great Wall of China'. Sylvia lived in the 11th floor, which is the top floor. The Great Wall of China is actually the largest concrete building in the world and it was the symbol of socialism in the past because in the past, The Great Wall of China was on the level of construction so it didn't have that kind of clean environment. However, it is now very colorful and the symbol of South City. Second, she sees the Prague Castle. It is 20km centre of the Prague from Sylvia's house. No people live in the castle but people can experience things that aren't in the castle. For example, they walk in the woods or have fun with their kids in the playground.

In contrast, here is what I see when I look out of my window. I live in an apartment and if I look out of my window, I see lots of other apartments and also I see a playground which is near to my apartment. However, because I live on the second floor, I cannot see a lot of things like the people on the upper floors do. All that I can see is just a playground, a lot of apartments, and also some cars and some people around the apartment. Maybe some people would think that it would be quite boring if I look out of my window but actually it's not. It is interesting if I keep watch things out of my window. I can see a lot of people so it is quite interesting to watch them.

Now, let's compare and contrast my life and Sylvia's. First, Sylvia has a family and her role in the family is a mother, who has two lovely children. I also have a great familiy that makes me relaxed but my role in the familiy is a daughter of my parents. Second, Sylvia and I have a different environment. Sylvia lives in a place where many people call The Great Wall of China, but I live in an apartment which has nothing so special about it. Lastly, Sylvia and I have a thing in common. We both love our life and we are fond to enjoy it.

By the site 'Highrise', I had an opportunity to compare and contrast Sylvia's life and mine. I found many things that Sylvia and I have in common and I also found many things that Sylvia and I have some difference. However, this doesn't mean that one of us are strange. It just simply means that we are different to each other and it means that we should respect each other as different human creatures. I think that the main purpose of 'Highrise' is to make people know about the different life with them and make the people understand each other and I think I got the point of it. I will note the address of 'Highrise' so the people who read my writing could go to the site and experience it.
