My history presentation - Telemachus

 Telemachus with Mentor

     In these days, I am reading books and researching about Telemachus, son of Odysseus and Penelope. I am reading 'The Odyssey' and 'Myths of Greece and Rome' to find out about Telemachus. I will write about Telemachus in this blog to kind of practice my presentation. But first, I will write about the Myths of Greece and Rome because it is very important to have some backgrounds about them.

     First, I will introduce 12 important Gods and Goddesses in the Myths of Greece and Rome. To start, there is Zeus. Zeus is the king of all gods and he rules all atmosphere. Hera is the wife and the sister of Zeus and she is the queen of the Olympus. Also she is the goddess of marriage. Athena is the goddess of wisdom. She is the daughter of Zeus and Metis. Apollo is the god of sun, medicine, music, poetry, and art. He has a younger sister called Artemis, who is the goddess of the moon and chase. Aphrodite is the goddess of love, laughter, and marriage. She is the most beautiful goddess among all goddesses. Hermes is the messenger of the gods and he is also the god of theives, shepherds, and travellers. Ares is the god of war and he loves Aphrodite even though Aphrodite has a husband. Hephaestus is the husband of Aphrodite and he is the god of fire and forge. Poseidon is the god of the sea and he is a brother of Zeus. Hades is also the brother of Zeus and he is the god of death and riches. Lastly, Dionysus is the god of wine and revelry and he is the son of Zeus and Semele.

     The Myths of Greece and Rome have two big characteristics. First, the myths are focused on the Gods and Goddesses. For example, we can have Trojan War. The Trojan War happened because of the small fight between the three goddesses; Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. One day, they found a golden apple, which was written that only the most beautiful goddess could get this apple. The three goddesses fought and finally made Paris, the prince of Troy to judge who is the most beautiful goddess between them. Paris chose Aphrodite, and as a present, Aphrodite gave the most beautiful woman in the world, Helen as the wife of Paris. However, Helen was married to Menelaus, the king of Sparta so Menelaus was very angry towards Paris. Because of that, Greece and Troy had a big war which is now named as the Trojan War.

     Now, let's talk about Telemachus. He is the son of Odysseus and Penelope and because he is the prince of Ithaca, he is also the heir to the throne of Ithaca. Let me talk about his characteristics. Telemachus is kind to others because he greets Athena, who was disguised as a stranger, to his palace. Also, he has courage and he is very brave because he sails through to find Odysseus, his father. We can also say that he loves his father becuase of this. Telemachus seems very gallant, too. Even though Odysseus stopped him from fighting against the suitors, Telemachus said that he would help his father. Also, he is warm-hearted because he saved the bard, Phemus from Odysseus's blade. Lastly, he is very proud of his father because as you read the Odyssey, he says that "You are the best on Earth" to Odysseus so we could know that he is very proud of his father.

     By looking this, you could maybe know much better about Telemachus than before you read my writing. I hope you had enjoyed reading my writing even though it was quite long and may be boring. I want you to have more information about the Myths of Greek and Rome also.
